How I got here
I spent ten years as a buyer for retail chains. My job was to decide which garments would fill hundreds of stores months before anyone tried them on: which colours, which cuts, which prices, how many of each size. I loved the work. I also saw its side effects. Racks marked down, returns piled up, and customers who owned plenty and still said they had nothing to wear.
Buying teaches you how clothes are chosen for you. Every season a shop needs you to feel that your wardrobe is out of date. Once you see that mechanism from the inside, you shop differently, and you help others do the same.
The moment it turned into a practice
Friends began to ask me for help at turning points in their lives: after a separation, before starting a new job, right after a move to another city. They did not need more clothes. They needed someone to help them understand what the change meant for how they wanted to look and feel each day. That question is where my private styling work began, and it is still the first question I ask.
The idea behind the work
Clothes should follow your life, not the other way around. When your life changes, your wardrobe deserves a deliberate reset rather than a spending spree.
What I believe
- Sort before you shop. Most people can build a strong wardrobe from what they already own once they know what they are looking for.
- Smaller is easier. A working set of 12 to 15 pieces leaves less to decide every morning, and every piece gets worn.
- Identity comes first. A big life change shifts who you are day to day. The wardrobe should describe the person you are now, not the one you were.
- Buying is the last step. Sometimes it is a short list. Sometimes it is nothing at all.
How we would work together
Everything starts with a free consultation by phone or email. We talk through what happened, what your days look like now and what you would like to change. After that call I explain what I would suggest and what it would cost, and you decide whether to continue. Services are agreed with each person individually. This website does not sell anything and does not take payments, so there is nothing to buy here and nothing to cancel later.
What I want this site to be
A calm place to think about getting dressed when life is loud. Read the articles, try the free exercise, and get in touch when you feel ready. If you would rather ask a question first, the contact page is the easiest way to reach me.
